Beamdog did a really good job of porting this game from the past into the future. Some of the additional settings and gameplay aids make it a lot better than it was originally. Really solid work. 4 stars for that. But, in hindsight, this is an example of how terribly D&D rules translate into CRPGs. Lots of useless spells and items. Stupid character progression at high levels (a million XP for +1 THAC0 and 1 HP?). The magic system is terrible for real-time combat. It hasn’t aged well.
